jeniferever / the next autumn soundtrack - s/t ep (split)
sweden's jeniferever open the cd with 'kap farvel', demonstrating their atmospheric and mainly instrumental indie rock sound. along the lines of appleseed cast or settlefish, they've definitely got that deep elm feel about them. this first song breeches the 8 minute mark, allowing a smooth progression into something a little more angular and powerful. the sparse floaty vocals are dispensed with altogether for the second track, 'the day the violence died,' which is shorter at 4 mins, but along the same lines. they definitely sound like a band to keep an eye on.

english band the next autumn soundtrack start off their 3 tracks of the split with 'nightnightbyebye' - immediate comparsions can be made with the previous band, however these guys go in a more energetic and less arty direction. the vocals are very noticable, with some nice dual work remenscent of kids near water. it's all still very melodic, delicate and uplifting stuff - another contender for the deep elm bracket then. their 2nd track is a short interlude before the near 8 minutes of ender 'what is it about the winter...', showcasing some more uplifting catchy emo rock.

this split makes for a very pleasant listen, and shows off the numerous virtues of the two bands - which makes it a shame the next autumn soundtrack decided to call it a day recently. lets just hope jeniferever don't go the same way.
